The three brands side by side
| Brand | How it tracks | Where it mounts | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| TrackMan | Radar, with camera tracking added on current models | Behind the golfer on the floor (TrackMan 4) or on the ceiling (TrackMan iO) | Serious practice, coaching and players who want tour-standard numbers |
| Foresight Sports | High-speed cameras that read the club and ball at impact | Beside the ball on the floor (GC3, GCQuad, QuadMAX) or on the ceiling (Falcon) | Club and ball data, shorter rooms and a complete packaged system |
| Golfzon | Overhead sensors paired with Golfzon's own simulator software | Ceiling, with the hitting area built into the room | Course play, entertaining and families who want the most realistic round |
TrackMan
TrackMan built its name on radar. Its launch monitors are widely used by tour players, broadcasters and teaching professionals, and the data is the reference many golfers compare everything else to.
For a home simulator there are two common setups. TrackMan 4 sits on the floor behind the golfer and tracks the full ball flight, which means the room needs extra depth. TrackMan iO is a ceiling-mounted unit designed for indoor bays, so it keeps the floor clear and reads either hand from one position.
TrackMan's software is strong for practice, games and course play. Ask about the ongoing software membership when you price it, since that is part of the true cost.
Choose TrackMan if practice and numbers matter most, you work with a coach who uses TrackMan, and the room has the depth or ceiling for the model you want.
Foresight Sports
Foresight's launch monitors use high-speed cameras to photograph the club and ball at impact. The GCQuad is a favorite of club fitters. The GC3 is the more affordable floor unit, the QuadMAX adds a touchscreen and on-device data, and the Falcon moves the same camera approach to the ceiling.
Because the cameras read the ball at impact rather than tracking its flight, Foresight works well in rooms without much depth. Floor units sit beside the ball, so they move to the other side when a lefty plays. The Falcon avoids that.
Foresight also sells a complete SIM IN A BOX package with the enclosure, screen, projector and software. You can configure one at MSRP on our site.
Choose Foresight if you want precise club data, your room is on the short side, or you like the idea of one packaged system.
Golfzon
Golfzon is the world's largest simulator company and is built around the experience of playing a round. Its systems pair overhead sensors with Golfzon's own course software, and its premium models add a moving swing plate that tilts under your feet to match uphill, downhill and sidehill lies.
That makes Golfzon the most immersive option for course play, entertaining and families. It is also a common choice for commercial venues. The tradeoff is a bigger, more built-in installation, since the swing plate and sensors become part of the room.
Choose Golfzon if playing courses with friends and family matters more than practice data, and you are building a dedicated room.
Full Swing and SkyTrak
We also install Full Swing, a premium platform found in many tour pros' homes, and SkyTrak, a value-focused launch monitor that suits family bays and multi-purpose rooms. Both are worth a look and are covered on our technology page.
How to choose
- Decide how you will use it. Practice and coaching point toward TrackMan or Foresight. Course play and entertaining point toward Golfzon. Value buyers who want both often choose SkyTrak.
- Measure the room. Depth rules out some radar setups. Ceiling height rules out some overhead mounts. Our room size guide explains both.
- Count the lefties. If both hands will play, an overhead unit saves moving the monitor every time.
- Price the software, not just the hardware. Annual memberships and course packs differ by brand. Our cost guide covers the full budget.
- Try them if you can. A session at an indoor golf venue tells you more about the software and data screens than spec sheets.
As a multi-brand installer we have no quota for any one company. We explain the differences, model your room and recommend the platform that fits how you actually play.
